Production has been shut down on the struggling new cop drama.
November 16, 2011
NBC has finally pulled the plug on its low-rated freshman drama Prime Suspect. The series has struggled to find an audience since premiering in September, and after it was left off the network's midseason schedule earlier this week, the writing was on the wall. Word is now that production has now been shut down completely.
NBC did its best to boost Prime Suspect's viewership, airing a large amount of promo spots for the show and even airing repeats in the prime time slot of cancelled series The Playboy Club. Ratings, however, did not improve.
It is being reported that all 13 episodes that were produced will air, although it is not known if NBC will keep the show in its current Thursday night time slot. Six new episodes remain in Prime Suspect's first and final season.

. Prime Suspect is a gritty show with the characters seemingly more true to life than any so called reality show and so for that I guess it had to go .... thank God for my Apple TV internet connection ...

Love Prime suspect. I just wish it was on at a earlier time on Thurs. Most of these good shows are on at 10pm, too late for me.

This was an edgy show with a great cast. Her character was interesting, layered and I enjoyed getting to know the characters as the show went on. This was also a smart show and one I am going to miss.

I have started a petition against the cancellation at this address:

Sign if you want NBC to keep it OR if you just want it to be picked up by another channel

It just took too long to hit its stride after an awful pilot episode. Once they softened the charatcers and abandoned the misogyny angle it was damn good.
That stupid hat didn't help either.
