The sci-fi series will still be shopped to other networks.
March 5, 2012
Fox has decided not to proceed with a second season of science fiction series Terra Nova, effectively canceling the struggling show. 20th Century Fox studios, which produces the series, is keeping a small amount of hope alive by attempting to shop it to other networks, but chances of a pick-up appear slim at this point.
Terra Nova's cancellation was somewhat expected, given its mediocre ratings and hefty production costs. Fox has also recently filled up its roster of dramas with new high profile shows Alcatraz and Touch, which they expect will outperform the cancelled dinosaur drama.

"Why dont they cancel something like Couger town and Happy Endings worst show on TV"
I actually like both of those shows [though there are alot of better shows on.] Now, if you want to cancel something, lets start with shows like Awake (BORING !!!) or better yet New Girl.
Five minutes in a room with Zooey Deschanel's character could get even the most hardened terrorist to talk, except that it would probably be considered a crime against humanity.

I really liked this show. At least it isn't murder all the time and there are way too many reality shows. As for comedy? All they are is people getting into bed with everyone! Just goes to show you where our system is now!!

Hate that's not getting picked up. If today's network execs were in charge in the 80's and 90's, we would not have had great shows. Most of them started off slow, but were given a chance. Some, like 'seinfeld' had to retool and add cast. FOX hasn't had a long running hit since "The X-Files".

I don't know why I bother with Fox. Every show I love they cancel. They must pick a bunch of idiots to place Nielsen Boxes in their homes. They are watching a bunch of crap. It's time to STOP using Nielsen ratings to determine ratings for mass viewership. Networks need to consider all types of media, initial network TV views, cable/satellite/fios/At&t on demand views, DVR, online replays, forum posts, online polls, ratings, etc. Cable/satellite companies can provide them with loads of data yet they don't use it. As much as I watch TV, why haven't I ever been approached about a Nielsen box or ever met anyone that has had one? I was so looking forward to Terra Nova's return. Well at least there's Touch, but we'll see. Kiefer Sutherland is a huge draw so it will probably be renewed. It has a fast pace and interesting premise. Alcatraz is good, definitely watchable, but Terra Nova gave me my sci-fi other, worldly fix. I will miss it.

Great post, Ray. And a good question, who are the so called masses of people who supposedly watch this brainless, talentless, insulting, mindless garbage that the networks continually spit out? Are the people out there really that stupid? I cannot believe that, if they are, we are truly doomed.
