The military drama will not continue past its initial order.
November 16, 2012
ABC has cancelled freshman series Last Resort. The military drama will still air all 13 episodes of its original order but will not continue past that.
Since debuting in late September, Last Resort was hailed by many critics as one of the strongest new dramas of the 2012-2013 season, but ratings for the show failed to match up to its critical praise. This past Thursday's episode was its lowest-rated to-date, likely sealing its fate.

I enjoy the show but I agree with a lot of the comments here. I believe there are 2 things that killed this series. 1. Writer's failed to take the story to level in which it could prove this series could be long term. The show currently has the feeling of "mini-series" to me. 2. This show is also, without a doubt, placed into the wrong time slot.

Another stupid decision, I hope that at the very least they bring the story to some kind of conclusion!!!

I have to agree with most of the comments. Last Resort was entertaining, and its concept piqued my interest with the pilot. I know plenty of fans of Speedman that work with me at DISH, but we all think that maybe the supporting cast lacked a little experience. I’m just happy that I didn’t have to go out of my way to set the timers for these shows and the rest of the big 4 networks’ primetime. They all auto-record to my DISH Hopper with the PrimeTime Anytime feature, saving me from having to remember to set timers—I’m forgetful and lazy. Hopefully all of the actors will land their feet on something that sticks around a little longer.

Sure hated to see this. Just finished watching this weeks episode with the wife (she loves the show). Like many have expressed above I felt there was no way this was going to be a multiple year series until this latest show. I had just told the wife tonight how I could see they were developing a story line which could easily open up a second season. Too bad we'll never get a chance to find out.

One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Major networks continue to lose audiences. They need not look further than the mirror to learn why.

This is a great show; however, I said it from the beginning, this is not a multi-year series. I'll miss this show once it's cancelled, but I really don't think it has the content to last more than one season.

''LAST RESORT'' IS ONE OF THE BEST NEW SHOWS ON REGULAR TV. IT'S GOT TO BUILD A FAN BASE...TWO BONEHEAD MOVES CAME TO MIND ''STAR TREK'' AND ''JAG''...IF THE NETWORK DOES ACTUALLY 'PULL THE PLUG' HOPEFULLY A NETWORK LIKE USA-SPIKE-TNT-FX-ETC WILL PICK IT UP AND RUN WITH IT...ANYONE REMEMBER 'THE UNIT?' RELOCATED FROM AFTER NCIS LA== I DON'T THINK IT HAD A REGULER SPOT BEFORE IT GOT YANKED..BUT TRASH RUNS 'FOREVER'.....
