The new comedy is axed after three episodes.
October 18, 2013
NBC has cancelled freshman series Welcome to the Family after only three episodes. The half-hour comedy premiered earlier this month but failed to catch on with viewers in its 8:30pm Thursday time slot.
The show is NBC's first comedy of the 2013-2014 season to get the axe.

Two teen pregnancy shows (this one and 'Mom') one was going to get cut, and the lack of star power on this one put the writing on the wall.

I never miss a pilot episode or movie. I wish I had missed this one . My eyes still hurt. A stupid Doctor, A stupid Gym owner ( ok I'll give them that one ) and the bitchy spoiled daughter - OMG - The only 1 who should have had an abortion was the creator's mom. To ruin the smart sons future over a missing condom - to promote non protected sex amoungst anyone especially youths ... maybe he wasn't that smart.

I tuned in after a blurb in tv guide made me interested. I actually loved the casting and writing despite its very obvious plotline. I'm very sad to see this go. I wish it had gotten more press. I thought it was one that should have been given a chance in the middle of so much unwatchable tv. This may not have been award worthy, but it was watchable and even enjoyable at times.

I actually thought this one would be the first sitcom to go this season. even with Mike O'Malley there was NO star power at all to this show. nothing stood out, just an average run of the mill storyline that's probably been done before, nothing really to save it.
