The new comedy is axed after three episodes.
October 18, 2013
NBC has cancelled freshman series Welcome to the Family after only three episodes. The half-hour comedy premiered earlier this month but failed to catch on with viewers in its 8:30pm Thursday time slot.
The show is NBC's first comedy of the 2013-2014 season to get the axe.

Some of the BEST shows in History would have been cancelled after 3 episodes REMEMBER M*A*S*H? It did horrible at first but someone gave it a chance. NBC has their heads so far up the Butts they cancel the ONLY DECENT NEW family show this fall! I will go back to watching DVD's of Brothers & Sisters and Desperate Housewives and turn OFF NBC!

I have to be the most addicted human watching TV. I watch 14hours+ every day. This show had a good cast and was a pleasure to watch. The mucky mucks that went by ratings sucks. No advertising of the show, bad time slot all brought disaster, I give up on trying to figure out what is going on with these networks.MKL

bub: VERY Good point!!! I tend to always watch all of the episodes so I didn't even notice that intro. Most people I know won't watch any show that requires the viewer to watch every episode. Thank you for pointing that out to me.

I am very upset over this news. This was my favorite new show of the season.

Little tip... any SITCOM that begins with a star stating, "Previously on...." is destined to fail. Sitcoms are customarily designed to be episode independent with wide character arcs. "Previously on..." doesn't work in the sitcom format. Why? Because viewers need to watch every episode to get a full grasp of the story. I can't recall ANY other sitcom EVER which had a "Previously on..." opening unless it was a 2 episode continuation but NEVER for each episode. Using this format simply killed the prospects for syndication and picking up viwers who have missed previous episodes.
While it was a decent show and the talent was pretty good (in spite of the moronic Longoria guest "reunion" appearance - why execs think that matters I don't know), NBC killed this show from the first minute of episode 2 due to the format alteration.

I cannot believe they cancelled this show. I was watching all the episodes tonight and thought I hope they do not cancell this show...and they did. After three episodes, why?
