The new comedy gets the early axe.
May 10, 2014
CBS has cancelled new comedy Friends with Better Lives. The mid-season series premiered in late March and is only five episodes into its run. Ratings for the show have been average thus far but clearly not at levels the network would like to see in its time slot.
The series marks star James Van Der Beek's second failed venture into television comedy in recent years. His last series, Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23, fared better but was cancelled midway through its second season.

This was one of the funniest shows I've seen on a network station in a very long time! It was hilarious! Well written and the cast were awesome!!
BIG MISTAKE CBS!! No wonder people are turning to Cable networks!

I hear 20th Century Fox TV is determined to work hard on finding a new home for Friends with Better Lives, which was cancelled by CBS today after a short midseason run.

Big mistake by Cbs. This show had very funny writting and star power in the cast. Cast also had great chemistry. How can u pull this show. Never gave it a chance to gain an audience. your supposed to be better than this. Same can be said about the crazy ones. Another poor choice by this network

Upset to see this one go too. My wife started watching it and got me into it. Quite funny. Well written. Needs a longer chance to get established...

Two of the top shows of all time, Cheers and MASH, did poorly in their first season. Even Seinfeld, took 3 seasons to gain in popularity and was anchored by Cheers. It wasn't until it's 4th season that it broke into the top 30. By today's immediate results/gratification world, these shows would not have made it into a second season. As long as people continue to watch crap like Kartrashians and honey boo-boo, this is what we will get. Networks do not care about providing quality entertainment, it is about quarterly profits and bonuses.

I can't believe they cancelled this show. It was very funny and it only got a 5 episode run. So I guess I'll institute my new rule to CBS like I did to FOX. I won't watch a show on your network until it gets renewed for a 2nd season and lasts it.
