The new comedy gets the early axe.
May 10, 2014
CBS has cancelled new comedy Friends with Better Lives. The mid-season series premiered in late March and is only five episodes into its run. Ratings for the show have been average thus far but clearly not at levels the network would like to see in its time slot.
The series marks star James Van Der Beek's second failed venture into television comedy in recent years. His last series, Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23, fared better but was cancelled midway through its second season.

I agree with Derek. Give a show a chance! I really like this one!

My wife is very upset at this show being cancelled. We both loved it and thought it was very funny. Good writing and delivery, especially the nasty single one. Such a shame. I agree that 5 episodes is not enough to guage a show. Bring it back please.

It seems to me everyone should be blaming / suing the Neilson ratings people for discriminating against people over 49 for all the good shows being canceled. If you're between 18-49 years old you get your choice of what to watch. Over 49 and your voice just does not count anymore. Loved this show. Hate to see it gone.

This show was terrible. All sex jokes and those got stale. Not sad to see this show go at all

I am so sad to see this show cancelled.... I love this show... couldn't stop laughing... by far needed more than just 5 episodes to get a following....

At first I wasn't sure about this show but after a few episodes it got much better and funnier, CBS should give it more time as it could get much better ratings after watchers talk about the show with friends.

I'm sorry to those who enjoyed the show because it sucks when something really funny or good gets cancelled (I could list examples but I'm going to skip that part). For me the show wasn't good though. It seemed like they were trying to cover every possible viewer group at once (married, divorced, etc) and it felt forced.
Personally, I was so mad about how HIMYM ended I was in a foul mood when I watched the first episode. I doubt I was the only one.
