The veteran drama will return for 2014-2015.

CBS has renewed The Mentalist for a seventh season. The once-ratings heavyweight has seen its viewership dip in recent years, falling to series lows in Season 6, which concludes May 18.
It is rumored that the show will return for one final season of 13 episodes, short of its typical order of 22 or more.

I agree with Arthur, the reality shows are something we see everyday in America in real life, I for one don't care to watch on TV. Sure, The Mentalist has murder, terrorism and such but it has a great plot, story line and substance and the cast are great together. I also watch all the other CSI shows and was disappointed when they cancelled two of them, CSI New York and CSI Miami and put on more reality shows. So I record those shows left on so when I do have time to watch TV I can just watch what I have recorded instead of the reality shows. I hope they don't cancel anymore of these types of shows and start looking at cancelling some of the reality shows that make America look desperate for entertainment.

I did not discover The Mentalist until the 4th season and have become fascinated with the skills of observations, serious but lighthearted banter in solving the crimes. The interaction among the characters is great and they feel just like a part of the family. I will be so sad to see this show go away. Will it be shown in syndication so we won't lose this wonderful talent group?

Red John thing ran too long and killed it's popularity but it is reborn better than ever. Really want to see it stay on. As far as football pushing it out, I just record the next two shows on the channel that come on after. When it runs out of it's time slot it will be on the next recorded one.

they killed the show on the time slot with foot ball over run, then coming on late . if you would want to tape it, you would only get half. great cast they all worked great together the writer got carried away with letting Patrick kill Red John the way he did putting him above the law

It's one of the best crime dramas on TV. The Mentalist character is witty and charming. The supporting cast is engaging. I think the dragging the Red John theme took its toll on the show. During that time, the Simon character was morose, pensive and lack luster for many of the episodes. The writers should have dispensed with the Red John theme after 4 or 5 episodes. Perhaps good scripting for the upcoming season will draw back the lost fans. I am a diehard and would be delighted to see the show go on and not end.

I am a great fan of the Mentalist and it really is going to be hard to watch TV with show having one more season. Does everyone in the world need to see these awful reality shows, it just no plot, it they get into a fight, they still have no plot. when is America going to wake up to the fact that we enjoy the shows that have substance and a plot, it gives our mind something to think about. I can see cursing and fighting without the TV being on. thank you CBS for the Mentalist.

I am a football nut, but I like the show better. Its one the best shows on T.V. To cancel this show is a big mistake.
