The veteran drama will return for 2014-2015.

CBS has renewed The Mentalist for a seventh season. The once-ratings heavyweight has seen its viewership dip in recent years, falling to series lows in Season 6, which concludes May 18.
It is rumored that the show will return for one final season of 13 episodes, short of its typical order of 22 or more.

I am glad they are giving the new story lines a chance. I was so glad to see the red john story lines put to bed. They new story line is refreshing I wonder if they might weave in the law enforcement conspiracy story line from the last season it might be interesting.
I too am tired of Fictional tv being replaced by reality junk.

I usually only comment on canceled shows, but have to chime in on this.
There is one thing I hate about the Mentalist.
The Sunday night schedule. I don't record things. Just want to watch. Some say what night it is on doesn't matter because you can record and everything is shifting toward view on demand. Untrue. Bad scheduling kills shows everyday.
I like the new storyline. FBI is more believable than "CBI."
Humor and good acting by Simon Baker make this a true gem. Agent Cho is danged good. And HOT!!!!!!!!
A little Rigsby and Van Pelt goes a long way. Don't need them on much.
The FBI boss is refreshing. Instead of the expected "butting of heads" with Jane, he knows how to use Jane to his full potential.
Elizabeth is always good.
Haters obsessed with the Red John story arc need to let it go.
You can only do so many Red John seasons before it becomes like buying the latest KISS album. It's the same music over and over and over. LOL
Frankly, they could have stopped the Red John story a season earlier and it would have been fine.
One complaint about the Red John story line being over.
I really wanted Malcom McDowell to survive so he could be a thorn in Patrick's side in the future. I keep hoping he's somehow not dead and faked it by having one of his members in the police department "verify" his death.
Malcom is such a classic actor and for an old man, he is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just ask Mary Steenburgen. And she is a HOT woman! Not afraid to say it!

So glad to see the Mentalist renewed. I have seen every show and thought season 6 was a great change of pace for the entire show. I thought the F.B.I. was a great way to keep the show alive. Frankly, I was getting bored with Red John. I love the show and will keep fighting the CBS battle and my DVR so I do not miss next season. Nice to have you here in the Lone Star State with us!

This show was a good show before the resolution of the Red John. The worst resolution ever and after that all worst and worst. I agree Red John history has to finish, but the problem was how and what happen after. I was expecting this was cancelled before it goes worst. I hope the next season would be a good sorprise.

I'm glad the show was renewed. I am also not happy with the times always changing depending on what show goes longer. I also think they should have kept the show and characters as they originally were. Miss Grace and Wayne though.

Patrick Jane is an all-time great television character. I'm more than happy to see him at work for another season. I know the writing was on the wall after the Red John climax, but I'm grateful for more episodes. Agree though, the late CBS starts are not doing the show any favors.

This has been a great series. Too bad they moved it to Sunday nights. Can't get many viewers when the start times are never the same. Thursday nights were much better. I like that he now works for the FBI. This leaves new possibilities for more seasons.

I'm glad this was renewed but I stopped watching it. With CBS Inability to start shows on the scheduled time on Sundays. I've given up a long time ago on watching anything on Sunday nights. IMHO if CBS would put in a filler show that could be adjusted to overage of sporting events to preserve the integrity of their prime time shows, it wouldn't be a ratings pit. Cold Case, CSI Miami, and now Mentalist have all been hurt by them not starting and ending on time.
