The new comedy is this season's first cancellation.
October 24, 2014
ABC has cancelled freshman comedy Manhattan Love Story after four episodes. The series has struggled in the ratings since its premiere in late September, quickly becoming the network's weakest new series of the fall. The cancellation makes the show this season's first victim across all broadcast networks.

How is it people's fault a show got cancelled, when I a lot of people including me do not have a "Neilsen box". My viewing doesn't seem to count anyway. So you can't blame someone for not wanted to start a new show and never see the story finished, Matthew/Joe.

I remembered shows being cancelled either at mid-season or at the end of the season. Now its "wham bam thank you ...." Isn't there a "60-second" storewide sale going on now?

This show was way better than a Selfie. Cannot believe they cancelled it!

THANK YOU, JOE!!! You speak the truth and then some. It makes absolutely no sense to wait until season 2 to watch something new. If that show gets canceled, YOU are part of the problem! And I'm tired of so many ragging on reality TV. Is it good? Maybe not. But networks are in business to make money. Reality TV is less expensive to produce and people watch. Bottom line! Be a realist. Watch any new show no matter how long it lasts knowing it will be canceled at some point. You'll be much happier that way.

The previews looked pretty boring. I'm not surprised it got axed. I am one of "those" people who don't watch until Season 2, but only for a thriller or drama that might leave me hanging. A frivolous sitcom I can watch and enjoy for what it is, even if I know it's going down in flames (like Mulaney). PS- Selfie needs to be on a continuous loop in Hell. That is one of the biggest pieces of garbage I ever attempted to watch. BLEH!!!

Can we all agree to not be surprised when Selfie gets cancelled. We all knew it was going to happen when they cast John Cho now with them burning through it. Also if you "don't watch a show till the second season because it might get canned," You are the reason show do get the axe. But yes this felt like a 00's movie more than a multi season show.

ABC always cancels shows that show a little bit of promise only after a few shows. Stupid TV...why even bother with new shows. They will probably just fill it with another reality show after they probably will cancel Selfie also...just making room. My suggestion to ABC is don't bring on anymore new shows.

I don't think that all of these network executives realize that there are so many people that don't watch all these news shows because all they do is cancel something once you start watching it! I don't waste my time anymore. I see one or two episodes and if it makes it into a second season then I will check it out. And I am not the only person that does this. They should commit to a full season and then see how the ratings went.

Surprising. I thought it was a decent show. Perhaps because it wasn't a cop/legal/medical/reality show they didn't know how to handle it. All I can say is if they cancel this and keep Cristela, they must be doing copious amounts of drugs at ABC.

I watched every episode, the leading male is hot, but, I agree... This would've worked out better as a movie... As a TV show, it blew...
