The sketch comedy gets another two-season pickup.

IFC announced today that Portlandia has been renewed for seasons six and seven. 10 new half-hour episodes have been ordered for each new season of the long-running sketch comedy series, which is currently in its fifth season. The network also confirmed that creators and stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein will remain at the helm of the show, along with co-creator and director Jonathan Krisel.

@Jerry... if you are from the Pacific Northwest this show can be utterly hilarious. It amplifies some of the more ludicrous personalities in the area. Season 5 has been a bit of a struggle though. It's not nearly as good as previous seasons. Perhaps they'll turn it around and go back to character-driven sketches rather than long, drawn out, unfunny, storylines. Seasons 1-4 were all about odd characters. Season 5 seems to be be about unusual stories... not the same (or as good).

Great news! This show is consistently funny and very creative. Fred and Carrie make a great team, and the guest star supporting cast is always superb.

I wonder who actually watches this show? It always reminded me of that lousy Saturday Night Live skit they run with five minutes left in the show where the cast is just marking it because, at this point, they just want to hit the clubs.
