No Season 4 for the Kevin Bacon thriller.
May 8, 2015
Fox has cancelled The Following after three seasons. Created by Kevin Williamson and starring Kevin Bacon, the dramatic thriller was a modest success when it debuted on the network in 2013 as a midseason replacement. Viewership dipped in each subsequent season though, with this season's numbers making it the lowest-rated Monday night drama on the Big 4 networks.
The Following still has four episodes remaining before signing off for good. Those will air in 2-hour blocks starting this Monday, with the series finale scheduled for the following Monday, May 18.

I think the 2nd season turned too many viewers off. The 3rd season in my opinion is way better but the damage was already done, ratings already down. I really don't think killing off joe was a bad idea, I would have been more concerned that every season Would just be the same thing over and over if joe stayed, they needed a plot change, the second season was too drawn out with the same tired story. Who wants to watch ryan chase joe for 7 or 8 seasons straight? Now if ryan broke joe out and they actually became friends... that would be interesting as well... too late for what ifs now

If not for the cast, this show would have been unwatchable beyond season 1.

I watched it for the first 2 seasons and then thought that's enough. It lost me when it got to the weird cult part.

It's sad how this show became less about intelligent plot and more about gore for gore's sake...which is why it is now gone. You had a great show but you couldn't maintain the script strength needed to keep us interested so you spawned a bunch of copycat followers that were less interesting but more "crazy." We want twists and turns in the plot, not just hacks and slashes. Too bad the writers failed this show this season when they could have turned it around. "Quoth the raven...nevermore."

Te first 2 seasons were great this season was too many crazy killers ans to kill off Joe was a mistake he and Ryan wre great ogether but without him it as too many crazies to keep track of and was confusing what was going on so it got real boring real fast

This was well deserved imo. The show devolved into the same old thing over and over. OMG there's crazy killers on the loose and the fbi is always one (or several) steps behind. I gave up on it during this season's premiere. It became a yawner.
