The new drama will not return for Season 2.
June 30, 2015
NBC has canceled freshman drama American Odyssey after one season. Word spread on social media this evening after some involved with the show took to Twitter with the bad news.
Those following the spring series' ratings likely saw the writing on the wall for some time now. Though American Odyssey premiered with decent numbers for its first episode back in April, viewership fell to less than half that by its third week. The network did air the show's full first season, with the finale airing on June 28.

Not surprised about the decision to cancel. So many clues that cancellation was inevitable. Three different story lines with their own subplots, slow pace of the show overall, some soap opera/fantasy-like scenes. Finally, it's too soon to broadcast a military-type drama with Middle East/North Africa background, especially one that American corporations murder their own soldiers.

Disappointing, but not surprising. I wish they'd left the finale the way most of it was going and let the loose ends be tied. It should have been a one season deal with that story wrapping.
