ABC has cut back on the new drama's season.
October 23, 2015
It is being reported that ABC has trimmed the episode count for Blood & Oil, down to 10 from its original order of 13. The move comes after a slow start for the drama on Sundays, where it ranks as the lowest-performing series in the network's prime time lineup for the night.
For now the show's remaining six episodes are still scheduled to air, which will see it wrapping up in December. A second season, however, does not look to be in the cards.

I want to add to my earlier comment that whatever seems to be a good drama that has everything except a lot of violence on tv,gets dropped. The program
That followed Blood and Oil wasn't as good as Blood and Oil and that's coming back...go figure...what a big mistake. I hope they reconsider and read all these comments and bring it back.

Disappointed that blood and oil is being dropped. All people want today is just violence and medical hospital stuff. Don Johnson was great as he always was and the other actors terrific. It is an interesting story...a great evening soap opera like Revenge was on Sunday nights. What is wrong with the people. All these cops and robbers are all the same as well as medical hospital programs.

WE LOVE THIS SHOW! "Everything" about it is fantastic! Don Johnson is "The Best!" We have missed his talents, his dynamic presence, his incredible voice and his magnificent smile! "PLEASE" renew this wonderful show!

OH COME ON.... This is great new show. I grew up with Dallas and there are very few similarities with this show. It's NOT based in Dallas with all the Texas influences, the main family is very small, the characters are very different and believable, and the whole feel is more personal, than all about the oil business like Dallas was. Give all of us who DVR our shows to be counted in the polls. From all the family and friends I talk to about this show, EVERYONE LOVES IT. We all see this as a must watch show, over all the reality and BS shows that are on now. Please give us a second season so you can poll the show again, while it gains more viewers.

B&O is a good show! Whether it's the same lines as Dallas has little factor due to many viewers today didn't watch Dallas or that era of tv.
The fact that someone stated it isn't realistic... well is anything on TV??
C'mon, this show is fun and although it may be far reaching to some extent it still is better than the other crap that seems to make it on tv these days.
All ABC had to do with this show is move it to another night. Just like ABC does and the other networks do with their shows to boost ratings for sweep month.

Love this show,it gets better every week and has good actors.
Not everyone is into zombies, robots, superpower heros, reality shows and sitcoms.
Every time a new drama comes on,even if in a soap opera style,it is dropped.
I get excited hearing of new shows, just to have them dropped.
Guess I'll DVD 4 shows at a time and not watch new ones till they're on at least 6 weeks!

I believe this had the makings of a great show. However, once I learned that the episode count was 'trimmed', and the show was doomed, I stopped watching it. I've been disappointed by unresolved story lines from cancelled shows too often, and won't invest my time and interest in an inevitable cancellation. It's a shame that shows like this so often die an early death, while garbage like "Dancing With the Stars", lives on season after season.

The shows good but I'm afraid Don Johnson's character is just too arrogant and the young couples decisions our based more on stupidity than some risk of courage. I'm afraid bad characters ruined this show. Shame, it had great potential and after Dallas let me down I was open to a replacement. I like Don Johnson and hope he continues finding another show on tv more fit for him.
