The summer series will return for Season 2.
December 9, 2015
Fox announced today that Wayward Pines has been renewed for a second season. The pickup comes after a strong showing over the summer for the limited series, where it ranked as the #1 broadcast drama among adults 18-49. 10 new episodes of the mystery drama have been ordered for a return in summer 2016.
Originally not planned for more than one season, Wayward Pines worked to fit the entire trilogy of novels from which it was based into its 10-episode run. Season 2 will be picking up after the events of the first season, with a new arrival to the town caught in the middle of a struggle over how to preserve the human race.
Chad Hodge, who originally developed Wayward Pines for television, will not be returning for Season 2. Taking over showrunning duties will be Mark Friedman.

Good to see this one back. Interesting ending to season one allows for new perspective on the story. Didn't read the books, but can see great potential.

We loved this series, never read any of the books which IMO makes the show better there's no comparing the two because usually a show or movie don't live up to the books. Liked the way it ended to leave it opened for a second series, the story and acting was well done.

I watched it this summer & it was different from the books but ok until the end. I certainly have no interest in watching the brainwashed teenagers run the town....pass

Agree with Ben. They butchered a great book series, particularly with that horrific ending. They completely changed the personality of some characters (Pam). Won't be watching.

Wow, I'm surprised. I watched the entire first season and thought it was just ok. I really didn't think it deserves a second season. My bet is that the second season will be even worse than the first and then they will cancel this show. But I'm curious enough to watch and see.

This was one of my favorite new shows of the year. I understand that the ending was a bit divisive, but I thought the way everything else played out was brilliant. I liked the writing and the actors, and I'm super-excited for Season 2.

Does not live up to the books at all. The finale of the first season was absolutely atrocious.
