A&E has confirmed that Bates Motel will be closing its doors after its fifth season. The announcement was made earlier today during the veteran drama's San Diego Comic-Con panel, which leaves the show with 10 episodes in 2017 to wrap things up.

The impending end of the Psycho prequel was expected by many after key events at the end of Season 4. According to Executive Producer Carlton Cuse, Season 5 will explore ways in which Bates Motel intersects with the events of Psycho, as well as specific differences that will distinguish the TV series from the movie.
