No Season 2 for the summer series.
October 17, 2016
It is being reported that CBS has cancelled BrainDead after just one season. The freshman series, from creators Robert and Michelle King, was the duo's next attempt at a hit after The Good Wife, which concluded earlier this year after an impressive seven seasons.
Unfortunately BrainDead didn't quite click with audiences over the course of its 13-episode summer run. A departure from the typical drama, the series was a political thriller of sorts, with a comedic supernatural twist involving a government shutdown due to an alien invasion on the US Capitol.

From what I had read, the show was sold as a four-chapter (season) story, where each season would reveal the alien takeover from a different location/perspective. Seemed like a gamble at best, but I did enjoy the few episodes that I watched. Seemed like it wasn't doing terrible for a summer show, maybe the powers to be didn't like what they read about season two? *shrug* Maybe if the show had aired after this silly election cycle, it could have done better?

The show was campy but in a fun way. Was different then the garbage on TV today and not a Reality show, so it was worth the time. Really would have liked to see where it was going after season 1, oh well.

it was advertised before it even went on the air as a 13-episode series, meaning there was never any intention to have a second season. plus the finale made it kind of obvious as well. I thought it was great, loved the humor in it, but I guess I'm in the minority.

I turned in only because Tony Shaloub was a cast member. After two episodes, i stopped watching.....

This show looked stupid from the outset, I can't believe it was the product of the same two people responsible for bringing us The Good Wife.
I knew it was doomed lol

Wasn't bad as a farcical comedy of sorts. It was clear the decision was made mid-way to not have a second season, because they rushed for a rather silly wrap-up in the end. Better than leaving on a cliffhanger I suppose. Still it had good acting and the writing was above average for network TV. It was one of the top choices when I scanned the DVR for something to watch.
