The CW orders more of the musical dramedy.
January 8, 2017
The CW announced today that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has been renewed for a third season. The musical dramedy will continue its run in the 2017-2018 season despite being the network's lowest-rated prime time series. Helping its fortunes is the fact that the show has garnered a healthy amount of critical acclaim, including Emmy and Golden Globe wins in 2016.
Rachel Bloom, who co-created the series and stars in its leading role, took home the Golden Globe Award last year for Best Actress in a musical or comedy and is up for the same award at this year's show, which airs tonight.
In Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Bloom plays Rebecca Bunch, an unhappy lawyer who abandons her job in New York in an attempt to find love by impulsively moving across the country to California, where her elusive, long-time soul mate Josh resides.

Michael Scott Foster is an incredible addition. He was my favorite character on "Greek" (Cappie).
Paula can sing her brains out ... I feel I'm seated at a Broadway performance each time she sings! You rock Donna Lynne Champlin!
The rest of the cast are such an interesting "Bunch"! From Darryl to Mia to White Josh to Heather and Valencia to the Chan Family ... they intrigue me each week. Mom Naomi makes me laugh out loud! So so great!
Rachel Bloom - your vision - from brain to page to screen, just wow! Awards well deserved.
Can't wait to see what Season Three will unveil.
