Amazon announced today that Goliath has been renewed for a second season. The legal drama, which comes from David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro, premiered on the streaming service last fall and has proven to be a solid addition to its growing stable of original series. Not only has the show garnered its share of acclaim from both audiences and critics, but star Billy Bob Thornton has already won a Golden Globe Award for his leading role.

Goliath stars Thornton as Billy McBride, a washed up lawyer frequenting more bars than courtrooms. After agreeing to look into a wrongful death lawsuit against the biggest client of the powerful firm he helped create, Billy and his motley crew uncover a deadly conspiracy that finds them in a life-or-death trial with the odds stacked against them.

Amazon Studios has brought in a new showrunner for Season 2 of Goliath. Clyde Phillips, who previously ran Dexter and Nurse Jackie, will helm the series on a day-to-day basis going forward. No time frame has been set yet for the show's return.
