The musical drama will continue in 2017-2018.
February 22, 2017
Fox has announced its second renewal of the day, picking up freshman series Star for Season 2. The mid-season musical drama is eight episodes into its run, where it has so far been averaging a healthy 1.4 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic.
Co-created by Lee Daniels, the man behind mega-hit Empire, Star follows a young woman with a troubled past who decides to take control of her own destiny by traveling to Atlanta with her sister and her best friend in search of stardom in the music industry. And while Star hasn't attracted the huge viewership levels of Empire, it has established itself as a reliable performer on Wednesday nights.
There is no word at this time whether Fox intends to keep Star as a mid-season entry in 2017-2018 or move the series to its regular fall lineup.

In what way am I a bigot? Cause her race is hard to figure out? To my knowledge "soul sista" is a complimentary term. The most offensive thing I said was "Beaver Cleaver white", and since the Plopster himself is white, that is okay.

Love it! Keep giving me more Queen Latifah and some Lenny every now and then as a little bonus and I'm even happier.
@Plop, bigoted much?

watched it for about five shows and must say it is a mediocre series. i will continue to watch netflix 4/5 star movies and not waste my time on this or many of the other poorly done shows on network.

Yeah great. We need more singing dramas. The biggest suspense this show has to offer is figuring out what race the lead character is. Sometimes she looks straight up Beaver Cleaver white, other times she look like a soul sista. The Plopster is stumped. Not worth watching this show to figure it out though.
