The movie-based drama will return for Season 2.

NBC has renewed midseason entry Taken for a second season. The action thriller premiered earlier this year for a 10-episode run that drew modest ratings for the network on Monday nights.
Acting as a prequel to the film franchise of the same name, Taken follows the origin story of a younger and hungrier former Green Beret Bryan Mills as he deals with a devastating personal tragedy. While he works to overcome the incident and exact his revenge, Bryan finds his way into a career as a CIA operative, a job that allows him to utilize his very particular and dangerous set of skills.
The show is going big for Season 2, with NBC ordering an increased episode count of 16 for its sophomore run. There will also be some changes up top, as original showrunner Alex Cary is departing the series. It is not clear yet who will step in to fill his role.

I'm not sure if I watched a whole "Taken" movie and the TV series does not resemble what I remember of a Taken movie. I've have watched a bunch of the series and for me it is good cheap brainless tough guy operative secret agency mission fun that wraps up every episode. Many shows are like it but I don't watch them much so no problem for me. The worst part is the politic that the government is mostly unscrupulous and evil and we persecute Muslims. If you can ignore the exaggerations-canards, and switch off your brain, it's fun.

I've never watched the "Taken' movies, I'm not a Liam Neeson fan. I have watched the Taken TV series from the beginning and I understand that this is a 'prequel' of sorts. Its a young version of the movie character. I am a fan of character driven shows and I feel that this will be, given the opportunity, a show that will give us some reasonably good shows. It takes time for a new show to develop. The actors need to get used to each others way of doing things. The writers need to find what works with the characters and the directors need to find out how far they can push to get what they want from an actor. I'm glad the network is giving the show a chance to find it's audience and also it's timing. It will be interesting to see where it goes.

Liked the show, but was expecting it to last just one season. Shame emerald city is gone, but glad to see this still alive.
