No Season 2 for the Naomi Watts thriller.
August 11, 2017
It is being reported that Netflix has cancelled Gypsy after just one season. The psychological thriller premiered on the streaming service earlier this summer for a 10-episode run, ultimately garnering a less enthusiastic response from critics than many other Netflix originals.
Gypsy starred Naomi Watts, playing lead in her first regular TV series role in 20 years, as a Manhattan-based therapist with a successful practice who lives a seemingly-picturesque life. But a growing obsession with the personal lives of her patients causes her to develop intimate and dangerous relationships with the people in their lives. As the borders of her professional life and personal fantasies become blurred, Jean's life becomes a tangled web of deception that turns her world upside down.
While early work had reportedly begun on a second season, it is not clear why the plug was pulled at this point in time. For Netflix to cancel a freshman series is not a common occurrence, though it appears to be a trend on a slight uptick, with both The Get Down and Girlboss being axed after their first seasons in recent months.

Just finished Season. Dumbest cancellation I've ever seen. Professional critics got it wrong. Riveting psychodrama and incredible acting by entire cast. Looks like Netflix has caught the major Networks' ADHD.

Just gotta love the "they didn't give it a change" rhetoric... I mean a full and complete season... if that's "not a chance" what is? Are they supposed to plan on 5 seasons to "try it"??? Morons.

I liked it. In my opinion, it could easily end after one season. Left you to draw your own conclusions. No different than how several shows have ended after multiple seasons.

Maybe if they marketed this show half as good as some of their other content we would see a Season 2. The show is pretty solid the first ep was slow but after that it got really good. Sucks we wont see an ending.

not surprised. Didn't think this one looked the best, and didn't hear the best things about it/hear many people saying they were watching it

They didn't give this show a big enough chance. The 1st episode was a little boring and it was hard to figure out what it was all about but after the 2nd ep I was hooked. They should of advertised it more. Too bad, I was really looking forward to season 2
