Freeform announced today that its new drama The Bold Type has been renewed for two seasons. The series premiered this summer with a 10-episode run that was a decent performer and garnered generally positive reviews.
Inspired by the life of Joanna Coles, chief content officer of Hearst Magazines, The Bold Type looks at the outrageous lives of some of the people responsible for a popular global women's magazine. The rising generation of its readers lean on each other as they find their own voices among a world of intimidating leaders. Together they find their identity while exploring friendships, sexuality, love, and fashion.
The cable network has ordered 10 episodes apiece for Seasons 2 and 3, and has tapped a new showrunner going forward. Starting next season, Amanda Lasher will take the reigns from creator Sarah Watson.

@aethn- you’re so off base. If shows didn’t get cancelled because of the “gay agenda†The New Normal and Real O’Neals would still be on the air. It’s not even an issue that there is a “lesbian character†except to people who make a big deal of it. That’s not how I categorize her. She is a main character who is also a lesbian.
