CBS adds three more episodes to comedy's first season.
November 17, 2017
The freshman season of 9JKL just got a bit longer, with CBS today adding three additional episodes to the comedy's initial 13-episode order. While more episodes is good news in the short-term, the small top-up does fall short of a full season order, raising questions about the show's future.
9JKL stars Mark Feuerstein - perhaps best known for his lead role in USA Network's Royal Pains - as Josh Roberts, a recently-divorced actor who returns home to regroup between projects. Unfortunately the apartment he ends up living in has him stuck between his parents on one side and his competitive brother and sister-in-law on the other. With Josh's family being a little too close for comfort, he realizes that personal boundaries must be established.
While reviews of the show have not been overly kind, it has put up decent numbers on Monday nights. A strong start through its first four episodes has tapered back in recent weeks, taking a hit in both overall viewers and those in the adults 18-49 demographic. The pull back in ratings could be the reason why CBS was conservative in the number of episodes it added to the show's first season.
The future of 9JKL is ultimately up in the air for now. A second season could still happen but its likelihood appears to be on the low side, perhaps depending on its performance over the remainder of the season.

really great. She played Alice from Mel's diner. A another great show
This show is not bad for a late 90's lazy writers fair. It is not the late 90's and the industry is too competitive to be lazy. It doesn't matter how realistic it is. It matters how dumb it is. I mean look at how "realistic" the top shows are. CBS just needs to cut its loses and start over again.
Look it up
