Word is out that She's Gotta Have It has been renewed for a second season by Netflix. Series creator Spike Lee and star DeWanda Wise both took to their social media accounts this afternoon to announce the good news to fans.
Based on Lee's first feature-length film of the same name, which he wrote and directed in 1986, the television adaptation premiered in late November with a 10-episode run. The show has been generally well-received by both audiences and critics, who have praised it for updating the original's premise for a new generation of fans.
Lee directed all 10 episodes of the TV series, which follows a free-spirited artist by the name of Nola Darling. Currently in her late twenties and living in a vibrant Brooklyn enclave, she is a modern black woman who is progressive, passionate, outspoken, and unapologetic. While figuring out who she wants to be, Nola does her best to juggle her job, her friends, and her three very different lovers - all while trying to stay true to herself.
No details have been released on Season 2 of She's Gotta Have It, but a return in late 2018 or early 2019 appears likely.
