The Jennifer Lopez drama will conclude this summer.
April 4, 2018
NBC announced today that Shades of Blue will be coming to an end after its long-awaited third season. It has been over a year since the cop drama was last renewed, and fans have been increasingly curious about its future.
The series stars Jennifer Lopez as a New York City detective and single mother who is part of a tight-knit group of dirty cops. When the FBI pressures her to inform on her brothers in the precinct, she is forced to walk the line between love & loyalty, honor & betrayal - all to give her daughter the future she deserves.
The show was a decent performer for NBC during its first two seasons. Airing in the mid-season months, it consistently beat out its time slot competition in various key demographics. The reason for the decision to end the series is not known, though Lopez does have a variety of other projects on the go including her Las Vegas residency and other TV and film related endeavors.
For those wondering when to catch Shades of Blue's final run, the network has penciled in a premiere date of Sunday, June 17 to kick off its last 10 episodes. That date is later in the year than the premieres of Seasons 1 and 2, which bowed in January and March respectively.

Absolutely awesome show! binge watched it and couldn't get enough. Lopez and Liotta are phenomenal actors. Anyone that says otherwise is blind. So many other shows continue that are endless and should be canned, this wasn't one of them.

The show was pretty good. Better than 50% of the shows that get high ratings!

I can't believe this smelly pile has lasted this long. Even Ray Liotta couldn't pull this mess out of the mud. Guess the writing staff money must have been spent on the expensive acting cast.

How did this sh!t show last as long as it did? I watched two episodes, and decided it wasn't for me.

Lack of advertising was not an issue. If anything I felt it was over-advertised. Couldn't go one commercial break on NBC without seeing one or sometimes two commercials for it.

I thought the show was pretty good had an awesome cast too. The network didn't do a very good job promoting this series. If they did a better job with it maybe the numbers would have been a little more consistent. And it took them forever to even mention the series prior to initial release. Oh well hopefully we get something similar eventually and not just some reality trash.

Wish they hadn't waited so long to bring this back. I thought it was a good show with good cast, but they seem to have never decided whether they want to back it or not. It is a shame they didn't give it more advertising and interest considering the cast involved.
