Amazon announced today that Absentia has been picked up for Season 2. The crime thriller premiered on the streaming service earlier this year with 10 episodes that garnered mixed reviews from critics.

Today's good news should please fans who have been awaiting word on the show's fate in the U.S., as it has been over two months since it was renewed by Canada's Showcase for audiences up north.

Absentia stars Stana Katic in her first lead television role since her 7-year stint on ABC's Castle. In the series Katic plays FBI agent Emily Bynre, who six years ago mysteriously disappeared while hunting one of Boston's most notorious serial killers. Long-presumed dead, she is found barely alive in a cabin in the woods with no memory of what happened to her while she was in captivity. Now free, Emily returns home but learns that her husband has remarried and her son is being raised by another woman. Before long, Emily finds herself implicated in a new series of murders.

Look for Season 2 of Absentia to premiere in 2019 on Amazon Prime Video.
