The new comedy adds nine episodes to its debut outing.
October 19, 2018
It is being reported that Fox has topped up the first season of The Cool Kids, adding nine episodes to its initial 13-episode order for a total of 22. The full-season pickup comes after a solid start to the new comedy, which is three episodes into its run.
Airing Fridays at 8:30pm following the revived Last Man Standing, which itself is off to a strong start on its new network, The Cool Kids has helped Fox come out on top among adults 18-49 in the 8:00pm hour in all three of its airings. Early reviews have been middling, though, with critics mixed on the merits of its laughs.
The half-hour series follows a rag-tag trio of friends living in a retirement community. And because of their advanced age, they are willing to break any and every rule to have a bit of fun. Uniting them is their shared belief that they're not done yet, and together they're going to make the third act of their lives the craziest one yet.

Ugh...another laugh track show. Why do shows insist on having to tell the audience when a joke has been told. Probably because it's not very funny in the first place.

I've watched the first few episodes, but have decided to give it up.
On the one hand, it's nice to see a lot of character actors get leading roles. But there aren't enough laughs and the Vicki Lawrence character is just a little bit too mean for my taste. But at least she's not playing her "Mama" character.

this show is funny, is it great? no, but it is steadily finny. it deserves to stay on.

It's a modern-day "Golden Girls" starring men rather than women. It's okay. but if it were gone I don't think anyone would miss it. It is 100% better than that horrible Dr Ken on ABC. But, more of note is that Friday seems to be no longer a "dead zone" for all the networks. Now they just need good shows to put on.

I am so happy. I really like this show, the actors, and the scripts. Charlie Day (From Sunny in Phil fame) knows what is funny.
This is my favorite new show this season after Manifest.

I have to admit, I watch last man standing then immediately change the channel to watch something else at 8:30. It's nice that these actors have a job and are not living under an over-pass, but the commercials just don't intrigue me enough to watch.

With all the negativity I have been reading, I'm very surprised at this announcement. I loved the first episode, but the rest of the episodes haven't been quite as good. I'm still enjoying the show with my family so I am glad that it got a full season. I do hope they cut back on the laugh track though.
I really don't understand all the complaints about the actor's ages. All different sorts of people moved to retirement communities for all different sorts of reasons. Add that to the fact that other than Margaret's 65th birthday party, the ages of the characters might vary drastically from the ages of the actors. I particularly like David Alan Grier and his makeup job.
