No Season 2 for the retirement comedy.
May 10, 2019
It is being reported that Fox has cancelled The Cool Kids after just one season. The news is a bit of a surprise, as the comedy had a fairly decent freshman outing. Its final episode airs tonight.
The half-hour series premiered last fall and got off to a strong start. Just three weeks into its run, the network added nine episodes to its initial 13-episode order for a total of 22. Airing Fridays following Last Man Standing, the show helped Fox come out on top among adults 18-49 in the 8:00pm hour on many nights.
The Cool Kids follows a rag-tag trio of friends living in a retirement community. And because of their advanced age, they are willing to break any and every rule to have a bit of fun. Uniting them is their shared belief that they're not done yet, and together they're going to make the third act of their lives the craziest one yet.

This show didn’t focus on waaaaaaay to much gay anything. It was a fun show!!! Stupid Disney taking out shows to revamp Fox there way. I’ll miss the show it always brought great laughter and more to TV.

That's too bad, it was a fun show. Better than a lot of the other crap that's getting renewed.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much focused on the annoying gay character who - clearly in his 60s or 70s - acted like a 12 year old much of the time.

Really? With all the unwatchable CRAP that's on TV these days, this was the first thing I watched on my DVR'd programs and I looked forward to it so much. It was funny, well thought out, and a new perspective on retirement living in a comedic setting. Leslie is always such a scene stealer and just funny as hell. And Vicki Lawrence back on TV has been such a hoot, shes still as funny as she was on Momma's Family. PLEASE dont cancel this! I really hope another network picks the show up. With this cancellation along with Speechless and The Kids Are Alright, another deliciously funny show from a parents perspective in the 70's raising a family... I really have no great shows to look forward to. And by all means, lets leave the WORST shows ever ON the network. Unbelievable. Who the hell's running things at the network? Certainly not getting accurate numbers on the audiences favorite programs. Shame on all of you!

It’s a travesty that a show of this caliber is cancelled! We’re all going to grow old one day, but this reminded us all that we’re as young as we feel in the inside. Amazing cast - I’m really going to miss Vicki Lawrence. Hopefully a streaming service will snap up this gem!!!

This show had a great cast and guest stars, it never should have been cancelled, and it will be missed. Leslie Jordan really got to shine and be the hilarious scene stealer I know him to be thanks to his guest spots on shows like Will and Grace. I hope everyone finds bigger and even better projects after this. And I really hope this will get Leslie Jordan to join Will and Grace full time.
