AT&T Audience Network announced today that Mr. Mercedes has been picked up for a third season. The good news comes the month following the detective drama's sophomore run, which once again garnered a healthy amount of critical acclaim.
Based on Stephen King's bestselling novel trilogy, which consists of Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, and End of Watch, the hour-long series follows a retired detective who is being taunted by a serial killer with a series of explicit letters and emails. This forces him into a private, and potentially illegal, crusade to bring his twisted tormentor to justice before he can strike again.
Look for Mr. Mercedes to return for Season 3 in 2019 with another 10 episode run.

@Love_Texas Regarding season 2 and the greenlight for s3, I really enjoyed season 2 and I think things are going to continue moving away from any attempts at continuity with the books. King has remained involved with the series, so I think the show has the potential to keep the same tone and tenor of the original material without being forced to adhere to a storyline that is naturally becoming less book and more book inspired.
Maybe the 3rd season will follow the “Finders Keepers” book/storyline?.
This show should have been over Season 1. I like the actors, but this show has been running on fumes since they allowed "Mr Mercedes" to live at the end of Season 1. Season 2 was hard to watch. There is no way I am watching Season 3.
