IFC announced today that Documentary Now! has been picked up for a fourth season. The long-awaited good news should come as a relief to fans who were curious about the comedy's future after an extended absence from the air.
The series premiered in 2015 and was actually renewed for two more seasons ahead of its debut episode. But since Season 1, the cable network has been quiet about the show's future. There was also a curiously-long break of over two years between Seasons 2 and 3, leaving fans wondering about the likelihood of a fourth season. But with Season 3 wrapping up less than two weeks ago, IFC has wasted no time in alleviating any worries with today's pickup.
Documentary Now! parodies some of the world's best-known documentaries. The series was created, written, and executive-produced by Saturday Night Live alums Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, and Seth Meyers. Armisen and Hader also star in the show, which includes guest appearances by some well-known faces which have so far included the likes of Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren, Michael Keaton, and Natasha Lyonne.
