The new drama will not return for Season 2.

Word is out that NBC has officially cancelled The Village after one season. The sad news comes the week following the ensemble drama's now-final episode. The series premiered in February as a mid-season entry, airing 13 episodes that ended up drawing mixed reviews and only so-so ratings.
Episodes followed the close-knit residents of a unique apartment building in Brooklyn, which is home to people who have built a bonded family of friends and neighbors. While they would not know each other if not for a shared residence, these people from disparate backgrounds have made their own family with the community around them, while facing their own challenges.

The way NBC promoted this show I thought it was going to be some kind of feel-good show, sort of like "This is Us". As a result, I let the shows accumulate on my DVR, ultimately unwatched.
Now I can delete them.

I never look for how a show is being rated. I only look on this website as to whether a show is renewed or cancelled. I'm surprised & disappointed "The Village" didn't get renewed. Here comes another bunch of actors looking for and auditioning for the next hopeful opportunity. Good luck to all who were involved.

One season is not necessarily giving whatever show a chance. If someone thinks a show is good that far, and it gets cancelled due to borderline ratings, or despite good enough ratings, then the show wasn’t given a chance to that person. The person that is the moron is the below yeoman service troll.

I don’t know if this was a good show but I looked at what it was and decided not to even give it a try.
I will say emphatically that I detest that good shows are cancelled in huge numbers, and most are left with no ending to the plot, yet utterly worthless reality shows thrive. It’s beyond sick.

I get tired of hearing all the people say they cancel good shows and keep realty shows..... I liked this show and whiskey cavalier but some shows just don't make it because of different reasons. plenty of reality shows are 1 and done trust me I watch reality shows also

I'm not really surprised by this. My attention was mainly focused on Nick/Katie/Sarah, the 3 ppl who annoyed me the most ironically while everyone else's stories were just too boring to me. Well, Patricia was dealing with cancer which is a storyline basically all shows do so it didn't do much to hold my interest other than just hoping she lives. And the finale did close up a lot of the storylines so maybe they knew they might not get renewed. I'm sad for Lorraine Toussaint tho, she is beautifully talented and didn't deserve to be cancelled.

Cancellations of shows like this just leave me more reluctant to become interested in appealing new shows - they so often do not survive and, worse, many leave us on a cliff-hanger. It seems that there is little room for many shows outside the super-hero genre.

Why do I bother liking a show, it just gets canceled. I don't like reality shows, but that is all they keep. People would rather watch people get drunk and hook up with a stranger week after week, than to watch shows that have some substance. It makes me sad for the country.
