The early pickup comes well ahead of the comedy's third season.

FX announced today that Atlanta has been renewed for a fourth season. The pickup is an early one, as the comedy has yet to air its third season. Speaking of Season 3, which was ordered over a year ago, the cable network stated today that production on both upcoming seasons will begin next spring.
The series premiered in 2016 with a 10-episode run that went on to win numerous awards, including two Emmys and two Golden Globes, including one for Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy. Season 2 returned in 2018 with 11 episodes under the title Atlanta: Robbin' Season, with many hailing it as even better than the first.
Created by comedian and musician Donald Glover, who also stars in the series, Atlanta follows two cash-strapped cousins trying to better their lives by making a living in the city's hip hop scene.

Season 2 Episode 9: North of the Boarder had some of the funniest scenes I've ever seen on TV in my life. That episode was the bomb.

Even when some episodes failed you still had to admire this show's creativity. Donald Glover is a genius.

It's not a bad show.. but it's off the air so long between the (short) seasons.. it's forgotten about fairly easily.

I'm very happy to hear that this series will be picked up for 2 Seasons back to back. with the main stars of the show all having great opportunities outside of the show I highly doubt they will be a season 5, but in the meantime we can enjoy season 3 and 4 in 2020.
