No Season 3 for the Marvel-based drama.
October 24, 2019
Word is out that Freeform will not be ordering a third season of Marvel's Cloak & Dagger, cancelling the show after two seasons. The sad news comes nearly five months after the comic-based drama aired its sophomore finale, which will now act as its series ender.
Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Cloak & Dagger follows the lives of two teenagers named Tandy and Tyrone. While they come from very different backgrounds, they are awakened to newfound superpowers that mysteriously link them to each other.
The hour-long series premiered in 2018 to critical praise and solid viewership numbers, with its debut run ranking as one of that summer's top cable dramas in key demographics. It couldn't sustain that momentum going into Season 2, however, as ratings slipped considerably.
While the show is now over, fans will get a final chance to catch the Cloak & Dagger duo this December in the upcoming third season of Marvel's Runaways as part of a planned crossover event.

Just because Disney owns freeform and hulu dont expect any show with the marvel banner to survive. They are definitely cleaning house for everything to be on disney+ so if your a runaways fan enjoy what is sure to be its last season

This makes me sad, but goes along with Disneys greed-machine tactics. I liked the show because (like the Netflix offerings, which this show was clearly tied into) it was way more organic than the movies now. So what if there wasnt huge special effects, or flashy costumes, or epic supervillian - i thought it was more believable that these new heroes would be facing more common street thugs long before saving the universe. Just another reason i will never, EVER subscribe to Disney+...

@Shan People are saying it because it's true. The idea is to get all the content centralized to one location. I understand if you don't know how business works. When your starting a streaming service you want to be a one stop shop. You don't want everything all over in different locations. But since I'm more than 100% sure you don't work in the executive offices, I'm pretty confident you "simply" don't know what the story is.

People here keep saying Marvel is getting rid of shows on other platforms, it's like you do not that Disney owns ABC, FreeForm and HULU? The show simply got canned because of bad ratings.

It was for a younger crowd, so I don't know if they liked it, but I couldn't stand Ty's voice. But everything is moving to their streaming service. Runaway's will be next. 100%.

Not surprised , they needed to have supervillians , with costumes. That's what we want. And to have them battle them. Not teen angst and the land of unreality where people are all frozen listening to music.
. All marvel shows are doomed as disney gives light to it's own streaming channel. Which is going to be great. it's the last season for the always good agents of shield too.

The problem was season 2 villain sucked. He plays jazz to the heroes? Yawn!

Endgame ended the side Marvel universe (and somewhat the main) in a lot of peoples minds. Sure the stories can go on but after 10 years we are done with them and taking a break. the story they all lead up to is closed, and any threads left hanging will just pull apart the whole thing. It's also why nobody else can do a cinematic universe. We are tired of franchises and want to start some new original story lines.

Somehow I thought this had already been given a green light which makes this cancellation even more upsetting. I really didn't see how tptb were even going to have a season 2, but since they went in a different direction, it worked for me. I was looking fwd to S3 being yet another different direction or "limited series" of sorts.
Oh well, it's my brain's fault for losing track of which shows are picked up and which we are still waiting for announcements. I will still say thanks for the future cross over. No matter where it goes, I appreciate that they are planning to include Tandy and Tyrone with the Runaways.
