Syfy announced today that Van Helsing has been picked up for a fifth and final season. The news, which comes three days ahead of its fourth-season finale, ensures that showrunners will have plenty of time to craft a fitting end to the saga on their own terms.
Van Helsing is a re-imagining of the perennial Dracula brand that follows the resurrection of Vanessa Helsing, a descendent of the legendary Van Helsing lineage of warriors, and her quest to lead mankind against a world controlled by vampires in the post-Rising landscape.
The cable network has ordered another 13 episodes for the show's final run, matching the length of each of its other seasons. Look for a premiere in the fall of 2020.

This show was horrible from the outset. I mean it's on SyFy and is an Assylum production... seriously. If that's your idea of "good" then I'm sure you are anxiously awaiting Sharknado 15.....

It is a horror show. It started out as sci fi. with a virus causing vampires. But then it went into Dracula and forces of evil and stuff. Dracula is female in this show strangely. The real dracula. was of course a blood drinking maniac (the ruler of romania) who impaled people , but was also a great general. Also Countess bathora is in this show. She was real and know as lady dracula. As she killed hundreds of people to bathe in their blood. She was walled up alive in her hungarian castle. Anyways. I like the show. But five seasons is a good run. I just hope Lost in space and the witcher on netflix can go that long.

Edit - After the end of Season 4.. I am not even bothering to watch Season 5. I have no idea what is going on. Happy viewing!

@michael dobey I wish I could have watched the show you were talking about. Because this show pretty much tanked after Season 2. And this season has not been good. I originally didn't know how the story was going to be when it started, but then it was pretty good, then it was ski hills since then. The stories are just to stupid for some areas even for science fiction.

I thought every season was solid. They had a big cast of characters though and tried to do many storylines. That turned off some viewers. But I thought it was ok. I think they could have continued the show for more seasons but a fifth and final one is fine too.

This wasn't a single series spanning five seasons but five loosely related but separate series. Each season was different from the other ones in setting and tone. Even the mythology seemed to change. I always got the feeling they made it up as they went along.
I quit watching after the middle of last season and I can't say I missed it. SyFy has really gone downhill.

I would like to see how the show ends. That said, it should have ended this year. I like all the "good guys", but the vampires are ridiculously bad !!! Wrap it up.

started to get fed up of the same stuff every series. Can only say thank god it is ending.
