TBS announced today that they are bringing Wipeout back to television. The extreme obstacle course series will be moving to cable for this first time after its initial seven-season run on network television.
Wipeout premiered on ABC in 2008 and went on to become a strong performer for the network with a regular slot in its primetime lineup. The format became an international sensation as well, with over 40 territories adapting their own version of the show. After 130 episodes, the US version ended its run on ABC in 2014.
Wipeout gives contestants of all ages, shapes and sizes the change to go head to head through rounds of grueling and physically-demanding, but wildly hilarious, obstacles to win the title of "Wipeout Champion" and a grand prize. While not much is known about changes to the upcoming TBS reboot, expect new twists and a return of the big red balls.
