CBS Cancels 'Broke'

The new comedy will end after one season.

CBS' newest comedy, Broke, will not be returning for a second season. The cancellation was confirmed as the network announced its renewals this morning for the 2020-2021 season.

Broke premiered in April as a mid-season entry, but failed to gain much traction in both ratings and critical reception. The comedy is five episodes into its run and is expected to air all its remaining episodes as planned.

The series follows single mom Jackie, who is surprised when her estranged sister shows up at her door along with her rich husband and his loyal assistant. The couple have run into financial difficulties and the three of them are looking for a place to live. And while class differences might separate the women, the size of the house with the increased occupants tests the limits of their new living situation.

I enjoyed the show but not enough that I am disappointed in the cancellation. I did really enjoy the character of Luis as portrayed by Izzy Diaz. I hope he gets another comedic part soon.

I tried to like this show but it was just not good. I did watch though hoping for a breakthrough but it never happen.

Never saw the lead in this show before, but she REALLY isn't lead material... Reminds me more of a 1980s truck stop waitress who smokes HEAVILY.... and the entire "we're poor, but we have a man-servant" aspect is just ridiculous.

Not a bad show. I think it picked up speed but now won’t get a chance. Bummed to see this one go too.

Agree with a lot of you. This show was horrible and a waste of some good talent.
