There is some good news to report for fans of Tuca & Bertie. Adult Swim announced today that the animated comedy is being revived for a second season in 2021. The move to bring the show back to TV comes 10 months after it was cancelled by original network Netflix after just one season.
The series premiered last spring and appeared set for a lengthy run after being met with overwhelming acclaim, with many critics putting it on their best-of-the-year lists. But viewership did not meet Netflix's expectations and the series was axed. At the time, creator Lisa Hanawalt expressed hope that she could find a new home for it, and now those efforts have paid off with a move from streaming to cable.
Tuca & Bertie follows a self-confident and free-spirited toucan named Tuca and her best friend and roommate, a self-doubting song thrush named Bertie. When Bertie gets closer with her live-in boyfriend, Tuca must move into her own place - which is still in the same building. Despite their new living arrangement, they still help guide each other through the ups and downs of life as a bird.
