The musical dramedy will return for Season 2.
June 11, 2020
NBC announced today that Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes a month following the music dramedy's freshman run.
The series premiered as a mid-season entry earlier this year and won its share of fans who appreciated its quirky musical format. Critics took to the series as well, giving it mostly-positive feedback. Today's renewal makes Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist the only new show on the network to be returning next year.
The series follows a tech worker in San Francisco who experiences an unusual event that allows her to hear people's innermost thoughts and desires through songs. This initially makes her question her own sanity, but pretty soon she realizes that this unwanted ability may just be a wonderful gift.
Look for Season 2 of Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist in 2021.

This is the show that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend should have been. The musical numbers are "extraordinary" and the dancing is a lot of fun to watch. i'm really glad that it has achieved a second season and it's interesting to read that it was the only new show on NBC that was renewed. And it's great to see some familiar actors like Lauren Graham and Mary Stennbergen in it and Skylar Astin in another musical role.

NBC made a good decision for once! This was the best new show of the year. Unique plot (which is rare in a see of lawyer and cop shows) and with a talented cast.

This is a weird show. There’s definitely nothing else like it on TV. You either like it or you don’t. Kudos to NBC for giving it a chance—given their history of cancelling things that are quirky.

This is great news. I love this show and was worried it would be cancelled as the ratings didn’t seem that great. Looking forward to season 2.
