The classic comedy will return on the new streaming service.
February 24, 2021
In unveiling its future lineup today, Paramount+ announced that Frasier is being revived for a new run on the streaming service. The move brings back to TV one of the most successful and acclaimed comedies of all time.
Kelsey Grammar will be reprising his iconic role as the titular Frasier Crane, a Harvard-trained psychiatrist who moved back to his hometown of Seattle after his marriage ended in Boston. The original Frasier aired for 11 seasons, but the character first started out in the 1980s comedy Cheers before being spun off in 1993.

Omg. Most of you need to call in to Frazier’s radio program because you’re in need of help. To get so upset about a show that ran for 11 seasons and won almost 40 Emmys is incredible. The Conners got a new lease on life and they’re doing a good job so maybe, just maybe, Frazier “Part Deux” might be good. I for one will wait until it actually freaking comes out before passing judgement. To all the “Karens” on here this is Doctor Frasier Crane, wishing you good mental health

This almost certainly a mistake. Just what can they do with these characters after all these years? How many of the original actors are available (sadly, at least one has died)? How about the brilliant writers?
"Frasier" is one of the all-time great sitcoms. The past year I have been slowly going through all the seasons and almost every episode gives me a lot of laughs. That's rare with today's sitcoms. But I don't want these happy memories tarnished by a feeble attempt to recapture old glories.

I do not think this is a good idea? If they want to do this and see it fail that is up to them. I do not want to watch a bunch of old characters trying to relive there glory days.

My family and I were fans of the original show and were sorry to see it end in 2004. However, if the original cast does not return alongside Grammer, the chemistry of the original show will not be present and if that's the case I don't see it lasting beyond the first season. While Grammer was the star of the original, David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves were - by the series' end - just as big stars, and many fans watched the show simply for their characters and not Grammer's.
As for the absence of John Mahoney, while no one can replace him, there is a fitting fix for it: simply have Wendy Malick (whose character, Ronee, Martin Crane married in the series finale) return as Martin's widow and the Crane boys' stepmother. Malick is an excellent actress and her character's mannerisms would be a great addition to the show.

.. here's the thing.. all "wokeness" or equality aside... NO ONE who makes sitcoms has ANY original ideas???
These people are making hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars a year and THIS is the best they can think to do? It's like 20 years after being divorced, your'e lonely so you remarry the ex-spouse you haven't seen in 20 years and you were tired of at the time.. just so you have SOMETHING to cling to.
This is pathetic.. no matter how the show is written, or what the new casting may be. Is ANYONE clamoring to see Kelsey Grammer on tv again? I simply hope (and this is harsh) the continuation takes place in Grammer's nursing home (what's he 70 now?) and he contracts COVID. So, at most,, 1 season to the funeral.
For heaven's sake .... age people out already. Boomers are just clinging to ANYTHING that they think makes them sill relevant. Watching septuagenarians or octogenarians in a sitcom where they seem to miraculously forget their actual age is just sad.

Tom , the most dangerous extemism we face now is leftism. And I am a lib saying that. This show may do ok. Murphy brown was on reg tv.

This is gonna fail like Murphy Brown. It will stay on because it streaming and no reason not to. Times have changed and people moved on. Most people are tired of just bring back old ideas. If it was wanted it would have stayed on air. It's the problem with trying to start a new service in a saturated landscape.
@susan
Yeah they just use the word "woke" to hide their true intent to spread right wing extremism. If you see "snowflake","woke","liberal", or "leftist" in a post it is either an extremist angry that the last 4 years of hate are being dismantled after free and fair elections brought back compassion and understanding to the world, or a troll. Want proof just look At the posts replying to this.
Either way just ignore them.

@Tired of Ignorance, you do understand that in Hollywood words mean whatever they want them to mean if it gets the attention they want. AND, the announcement literally says "he revival will have everything you love about the original: coziness, great writing, and of course, a cast led by @KelseyGrammer". "A cast", not "the cast". NOWHERE does it say anything about the original cast or characters. In fact, if you read through other announcements you will find they are carefully written to mention only Kelsey Grammer and the character of Frasier, no one else.
@Susan, if companies renewed television programs based on $$$ then explain the BBC and Doctor Who or any program on the CW.
