No Season 2 for the sitcom sequel.
August 19, 2021
Word is out that Peacock has cancelled Punky Brewster after just one season. The sad news comes six months after the sitcom released its freshman run. The move makes the show the first cancellation of a scripted comedy on the streaming service.
A sequel to the beloved 1980s sitcom of the same name, Punky Brewster follows the titular character, who as a child was a smart young girl raised by a foster dad. Now all grown up, Punky is a single mother of three working to get her life back on track when she meets a young girl in the foster system who reminds her of her younger self.

back in the eighties, laugh tracks were just a thing. We didn't know we were being programmed to conform with what was funny.
42 years later, and after all variants of shows and films, there are two types of modern day laugh tracks.
tolerable because the show is good.
awful, and that can ruin a show.
join the fight @sam.
get rid of laugh tracks.
funny is funny. but why tell me?
30 years and hundreds of shows proving people love shows without laugh tracks. This show could only survive on nostalgia. Not enough of a draw to get people to use a service.
