Peacock announced today that One of Us Is Lying has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes three months after the drama concluded its freshman run, which garnered an overall positive reception from critics.

Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Karen M. McManus, the series follows five students at Bayview High who are sent to detention. After one of them suffers a fatal allergic reaction, an investigation into their death begins - and reveals that the other four students each had reasons to commit the murder. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.

A change behind the scenes is in store going forward, as showrunner Darío Madrona is stepping down. Erica Saleh, who adapted the novel for TV, will take the helm for Season 2, which should return later this year. The upcoming season will likely pick up immediately after the events of the first finale, signaling a deviation from the follow-up novel 'One of Us Is Next', which takes place a year later.
