The game show will still return for Season 2.

CBS is ending the freshman run of Lingo early, pulling its remaining four episodes from the schedule effective immediately. Fans shouldn't worry though, as the prime time game show is not cancelled and will still return for Season 2 - its renewal was announced last month.
The RuPaul-hosted series premiered in January, originally slated for a 12-episode run. Today's change of plan means this past Wednesday's episode, its eighth, will now serve as the season finale. In its place for the next four weeks, the network will air encore episodes of 'FBI: Most Wanted,' 'FBI,' 'FBI: International,' and 'CSI: Vegas' respectively. The four unaired episodes of Lingo will be scheduled for next season.
Lingo is a high-stakes solve-the-puzzle competition where teams of two battle it out in multiple rounds of guessing letters that in-turn reveal seemingly simple words. The winning teams of the early rounds then face off in an intense showdown to take home the money that has been accumulated in the pot.

It would suck to be those contestants because they don't get paid until their show airs. If it gets cancelled and those last few episodes don't air then they never get paid.

I don’t understand why the show has to have such an obnoxious set. It’s overly colorful and horribly bright. Just over the top!
I like Ru just fine. BUT! Enough already with the “lucky balls”. It’s just so childish and stupid.

I really like most of the prime time games shows and I really like word games. Having said that, this show is awful! RuPaul is fine as host but the contestants they have are dumber than a box of rocks! They make the show unwatchable, for me anyway.

I definitely preferred Lingo with Chuck Woollery.

RuPaul isn't for everyone but I think he's a good emcee. I should think that "Lingo" is more difficult than even "Password", which I had previously thought as the most difficult word game show ever devisied.

Hopefully RuPaul will come back to host the UK version once this is done. He's much better than Adil Ray.

Liked the original, but don't much care for RuPaul. CBS is cancelling this.

I believe this could well be because of budgeting issues. As also has been done to other programs like Gold Rush: White water and undoubtfully others.
By stopping now the production (prize money) costs can be run into the next fiscal season even though the season is already filmed/taped. This way the books can be "cooked" for this season.
Ps...this show has been running in the Netherlands for roughly 30 years already....
