The game show will still return for Season 2.

CBS is ending the freshman run of Lingo early, pulling its remaining four episodes from the schedule effective immediately. Fans shouldn't worry though, as the prime time game show is not cancelled and will still return for Season 2 - its renewal was announced last month.
The RuPaul-hosted series premiered in January, originally slated for a 12-episode run. Today's change of plan means this past Wednesday's episode, its eighth, will now serve as the season finale. In its place for the next four weeks, the network will air encore episodes of 'FBI: Most Wanted,' 'FBI,' 'FBI: International,' and 'CSI: Vegas' respectively. The four unaired episodes of Lingo will be scheduled for next season.
Lingo is a high-stakes solve-the-puzzle competition where teams of two battle it out in multiple rounds of guessing letters that in-turn reveal seemingly simple words. The winning teams of the early rounds then face off in an intense showdown to take home the money that has been accumulated in the pot.

I like Ru just fine. BUT! Enough already with the “lucky balls”. It’s just so childish and stupid.
By stopping now the production (prize money) costs can be run into the next fiscal season even though the season is already filmed/taped. This way the books can be "cooked" for this season.
Ps...this show has been running in the Netherlands for roughly 30 years already....
