The Taylor Sheridan series premieres in November.
September 23, 2023
A new original series from Taylor Sheridan is heading to Paramount+ this November. Set to be an anthology series, the first standalone iteration will be titled Lawmen: Bass Reeves and will star David Oyelowo in the title role. Future iterations will follow other iconic lawmen and outlaws who have impacted history.
Revealing the untold story of the most legendary lawman in the Old West, the show will follow Bass Reeves, a federal peace officer of the Indian Territory based in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He rose from enslavement to law enforcement as the first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi. Despite arresting over 3000 outlaws during his career, the weight of the badge was heavy, and he wrestled with its moral and spiritual cost to his beloved family.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves will premiere its first two episodes on Sunday, November 5.

Bass Reeves was the true life inspiration for The Lone Ranger. If this show is as good as 1883, it will be fantastic. Great trailer.
