The series will follow the LAPD's new cold case division.

Prime Video announced today that a new Bosch spinoff has been ordered to series. Only known so far as the Untitled Renée Ballard project, the series will follow Detective Renée Ballard, who is tasked with running the LAPD's new cold case division - a poorly funded, all-volunteer unit with the largest case load in the city.
Based on the work by New York Times best-selling author Michael Connelly, the drama is the second Bosch spinoff, joining 'Bosch: Legacy,' which is going into its third season at Amazon Freevee.
Prime Video has ordered 10 episodes for the new spinoff, which will see Detective Ballard approach cold cases with empathy and determination. When she uncovers a larger conspiracy during her investigations, she will rely on the assistance of her retired ally, Harry Bosch, to navigate the dangers that threaten both her unit and her life.
"From books to screen, Michael Connelly creates authentic and suspenseful stories, led by distinctive characters who make audiences care and connect. Renée Ballard is one of those characters. She instantly captivated readers with hints of a troubled past and a protective layer of idiosyncrasies she developed to survive. We look forward to expanding the Bosch universe with Michael and introducing viewers to Ballard's personal approach to pursuing justice," said Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD originals, unscripted, and targeted programming at Amazon MGM Studios.
Ballard Character SUCKS

I have listened to every Harry Bosch unabridged audio book. They were all great. The Rene Ballard series were horrible, tedious, insufferable man bashing feminist woke garbage and were not even able to be finished. They will do the same thing with series, and it will portray Ballard as the strong unstoppable, unbelievable knows all and can do all main character. She will put Bosch down and make him out to be a weak old on the way out character. There are so many great Bosch novels they could have made. This series will do poorly and sadly Amazon will think fans dont like Bosch so they'll drop it all.

Well if it's following the books then it's completely legit, although the quality of any book often does not correspond to the quality of the screen edition. Hieronymus Bosch will still play a part it says. So Renee Kibosh may well retain a debauched Harry Bosch in debauchery.

Bosch legacy is very good. Because it has bosch in it. A spin off without him is a harder sell

Bezos may have liked the original Boschés too or is it just for the money that Amazon is making the second shamelessly yet unnamed spinoff. Could have come up with Renee's Kibosh, or Cold Blonde by now.
