Amazon announced today that Alex Rider is coming to an end after its upcoming third season. The news comes over a year after the British thriller was picked up for its now-final run on Amazon Freevee. All 8 episodes will be released on April 5.

"We're so excited to bring Anthony Horowitz's fifth Alex Rider novel to life with this upcoming season of the show, a personal favourite of mine and a huge turning point in Alex's journey," said Executive Producer, Eve Gutierrez. "This season throws a spotlight on how all of the characters have grown and evolved over the last few years, and we feel confident that fans will be gripped as Alex finds himself on the cusp of adulthood and torn between two dangerous organisations."

Based on the novel series of the same name, the show follows a seemingly typical teenager who gets enlisted to work for a subdivision of MI6 known as the Department. There, he utilizes skills he didn't know he had to become an extraordinary spy.

Season 1 was based on the second book, 'Point Blanc,' while Season 2 was based on the fourth, 'Eagle Strike.' Season 3 will be adapted from 'Scorpia,' the fifth novel in the series. The story will pick up with the teenage spy on the trail of his greatest enemy: the elusive criminal network known as Scorpia. Finally free of the manipulative Alan Blunt and his Department, Alex embarks on a personal mission to destroy Scorpia once and for all, little realizing the journey will reveal his ties to both organizations run deeper than he ever thought possible.
