Starz announced today that BMF has been picked up for a fourth season. The news comes a day ahead of the drama's Season 3 premiere.
"Fans can't get enough of the history in the making that is BMF," said the network's President of Programming, Kathryn Busby. "We're thrilled to start working on a new season that will continue bold storytelling of the legend of the Flenory brothers that has proven to resonate so deeply with our viewers."
Based on a true story, the hour-long series follows two brothers, Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory and Terry "Southwest T" Flenory, who rose from the streets of Detroit in the late 1980s and created one of America's most influential criminal enterprises known as the Black Mafia Family. The charismatic leadership of Big Meech and the business acumen of Southwest T allowed them to form a partnership with a vision beyond the drug trade and into the world of hip-hop.
Season 3 will be set in the early 1990s, with Big Meech moving to Atlanta to expand the BMF empire in the south and rise to the top of the city's drug scene. At the same time, Terry remains in Detroit to handle business, unaware of the many dangers lurking around the corner. Charles and Lucille Flenory's marriage remains on the rocks, and Detective Bryant, on probation from work, and Detective Jin find themselves on opposite sides of the law, but might find common ground in their determination to take down the BMF.
