No Season 2 for the new Star Wars series.

It is being reported by Deadline that The Acolyte has been cancelled by Disney+ after just one season. The news comes a month after the Star Wars series wrapped its 8-episode freshman run.
The move does not come as a complete surprise, as the show's high production costs would need a sizeable audience to justify a renewal. And while its premiere did draw the platform's largest viewership for a new series this year, its early success was short-lived, and the full season numbers were estimated to be low compared to other shows in the Star Wars universe.
The Acolyte is set during the final days of the High Republic era, about 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I. In the show, a former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes. But in a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers, the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.

Shows don't get cancelled because they "go woke". That is just ignorant. If that were the case, how come Survivor is entering it's 40 something season when it "went woke" like 10 years ago? And multiple drag queen competition shows are getting renewed for double digit seasons?
Could it be possible... and bear with me as this is kind of crazy... that shows get cancelled because they aren't very good or aren't making any money or both?? I know... such a wild concept!

Woke and broke baby! The liberals they are pandering to cannot afford Disney+ with food stamps, section 8, and the part time job they often miss due to protesting and parades. Pander to those of us with jobs and can afford to watch these things... LOL @ Disney stock values.

They went woke, they're going broke. This is factual. The numbers even say so.
People attribute this to over saturation of the Marvel and Star Wars Universes but that is simply not true. When you have a valid story but force an agenda into it, this is what it looks like. Everyone wants more Marvel but the good stuff from a decade ago. Everyone wants Star Wars, again the good stuff from decades ago. You build an empire of entertainment on great stories, with great people, only to crap all over it with woke ideology. Build off what made these things great, not use them as a platform for your agenda. You have alienated your general audience, the one that got us here. Shame on these people.

The story was bad, the acting was bad, and the show was justifiably cancelled by Disney. Let us never speak of this garbage ever again.

I have tried twice, first I was swayed by nay sayers and stopped during episode 1, went in the second time with an objective mind, episode 2 starts and Mae says - I have to kill all the jedi to please my master, and I was done. Horrible acting and ever worse writing.

Just a few episodes in and I was a bit lost. Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention. I was really looking forward to seeing more of the Star Wars universe. From all of the interviews and documentaries, Lucas's Star Wars universe was EXTREMELY diverse and detailed. I think he even admitted he didn't "know everything" that was in his mind/imagination. He's a good storyteller.
Oh well.

I think the show didn't get a second season because it really wasn't fully developed before it hit the screens. Hence the loss in viewership. Had potential, just not the right timing.

Came here for the "go woke, go broke!" trash comments and was NOT surprised... I haven't even gotten around to watching it and I knew it would be full of rubbish like this... Go back to watching Dukes of Hazard re-runs, honestly... I like that they stretched out to a different era and will still give this a chance but KK really is ruining everything to do with Star Wars and we need to give Dave and Jon more of an overarching control as they're the only ones that have proven themselves to know what they're doing...

Like Marvel, they need to throttle back on Star Wars production. Quality over Quantity. I'd rather have one or two really good productions in a year than four that are average or less.
