Netflix announced today that Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft has been renewed for Season 2. The news comes two weeks after the animated series released its 8-episode freshman run.
Based on the iconic video game series, the show picks up after the events of the game's Survivor trilogy (Tomb Raider; Rise of the Tomb Raider; Shadow of the Tomb Raider), following globetrotting heroine Lara Croft as she continues her iconic adventurers exploring ancient mysteries and looking to uncover lost truths across breathtaking and dangerous destinations.
While Season 1 served as an origin story, the second season will aim to follow Lara's journey from being a rookie to becoming the icon fans know today.
The next storyline will find Lara discovering a trail of stolen African Orisha masks, leading her to join forces with her best friend Sam to retrieve the precious artifacts. This new adventure will take her around the globe as she delves deeper into the hidden secrets of Orisha history, dodges the machinations of a dangerous and enigmatic billionaire who wants the masks for herself, while discovering these relics contain dark secrets and a power that defies logic. Power that may, in fact, be divine.

But whatever, 2nd seasons for shows on Netflix are nothing new. I'll be more impressed if it manages to survive past that season. If not, then oh well.
