CBS announced today that NCIS: Origins has been given a full season pickup. Five additional episodes have been ordered to bring its total to 18 for the season. The news comes four episodes into the drama's freshman run, which is off to a solid start for the network.
A spinoff prequel of NCIS, the series is set in 1991, following Leroy Jethro Gibbs at the beginning of his career as a newly minted special agent at the fledgling NCIS Camp Pendleton office. There he forges his place on a gritty, ragtag team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks.

Not impressed so far.

As much as I liked Mark Harmon as Gibbs, the narrative by him annoys me.

I'm surprised it's been picked up. It's so boring! I won't continue watching.

This is not your mother's NCIS. It's a lot rougher and everybody has to watch their backs. I keep wondering how some of the characters from the original, present-day NCIS would fare. I'm not sure if I like the characters yet.
I do like how well they portray the period. Having lived through them, I don't think of the early '90s as primitive. But every time I watch this show it reminds me how much things have changed since them. Just the idea of not instantly being able to connect with everybody via smartphones brings back memories.

I was skeptical at first as I love the NCIS franchise. The show has grown on me and really enjoy the characters. Mike Franks was one of my favorite characters in the original NCIS show. Great to see his story with Gibbs.

So this show is set in 1991. Do they really think that NCIS would have been as diverse as the picture above in 1991?
It would have been 90% white men, a few black men, and any women would have been secretaries.
Hollywood DEI strikes again

I grew up in Oceanside. Graduated OHS in 82. Finally left in 87.
They're not far off on some things. Way off on others. Love to see them show some very familiar haunts.
